Today we caught up with Bye Bye Plastic's Executive Assistant and Marketing Manager, Aurore Groult, to bring you the beats that keep her dancing towards a plastic-free future!
Hey Aurore! In the fast-paced world of an Executive Assistant and Marketing Manager, you have to stay on the pulse of Bye Bye Plastic’s mission. What track keeps you composed when you’re dealing with a mountain workload?
What you'll probably notice from (some) all my answers—besides my very broad taste in music—is how deeply influenced I am by cinema. This might have something to do with the fact that my partner is a screenwriter, but honestly, so much of my music discovery comes through film regardless. Lately, I’ve been loving "Greatest Day" from the movie Anora (perfect for an energy boost) and "All the Tired Horses" by Lisa O’Neill, which was beautifully used as the final song in Peaky Blinders.
If the energy of ADE is anything to go by, Amsterdam is the dance music centre of our Bye Bye Plastic ecosystem! Is there a track that transports you to a special memory on the Dutch dance scene?
The Amsterdam electronic music scene is for sure a vibrant one, and ADE is the perfect example of how it comes together. I recently discovered Joris Voorn during ADE, thanks to my "party animal" group of friends who dragged me to one of his sets. It was amazing! His ability to blend melodic and deep techno is mesmerising, and I can totally see why he's such a staple in the Amsterdam scene.
From club nights to festivals, tell us about your best live music memory
I have a lot of standout festival and concert memories from over the years. That said, my absolute most memorable music moment has to be seeing Ennio Morricone live at the O2 Arena. As for a club night - it would have to be seeing Moby live on my 18th birthday!
A track that inspires you creatively
Four Tet - "Baby"
I just love the vibe, it pumps me up and gets me in the zone to be my most creative!
A track that connects you to nature
Bill Withers - "Lovely Day"
I love listening to this song when I’m in the park or woods with my dog. It always reminds me to look up at the sky, enjoy nature and keeps me reminded at how important it is to protect this planet!
Life in the Bye Bye Plastic ecosystem can get pretty hectic! Give us a track that helps you unwind?
It’s funny because I always put the same track on when I want to relax (especially when I put a bath on) which is "Mystery of Love" by Sufjan Stevens. And then I always end up listening to the whole Call Me By Your Name soundtrack…
What track could keep you dancing all night?
I love a good beat but it really depends on my mood. I could listen to Daft Punk all night to be honest! But I rediscovered "Nightcall" from Phoenix and I love the version that was played during the Olympic ceremony with Angèle and Kavinsky.
A track from an Eco-Rider artist you have your eye on:
Francis Mercier, Mont Rouge, Coco - "Voyage Voyage"
I absolutely love old school remixes.
If you were abandoned forever on a desert island, what’s the one track you’d choose to take?
Oh that’s a good one! It would have to be something very positive like "Mr Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra as I imagine I would have to make sure I keep my spirits up!
Name a track that gives you hope for the future of the #PlasticFreeParty
I think I would say Childish Gambino's "Feels Like Summer" as it gives me hope for the future with its upbeat tone and message about climate change and environmental awareness.
