What’s next for nightlife? If the NTE (Night Time Economy) Summit taught us anything, it’s that the industry is at a turning point. The way we party, connect, and experience nightlife is evolving—and fast. From adapting to new generations’ desires to redefining what a club space can be, we’re here to break it all down.

This year’s Night Time Economy Summit 2025, organised in partnership with the International Nightlife Association, was held on February 5-6 in Birmingham at the Hockley Social Club. The event brought together over 2,000 attendees, 250 speakers, and industry representatives from 20 countries to discuss current trends, challenges, and innovations in the nightlife sector.
Our co-founder Camille Guitteau was invited to speak on the panel "Changing Mindsets Around Sustainability in Nightlife", moderated by Claire O’Neil (AGF). The discussion included key industry figures such as Joaquim Boadas (Secretary General of the INA), Dave Townsend (Bodyheat/Town Rock Energy), and Phil Korbel (Co-Founder Carbon Literacy). Together, they explored how the nightlife industry can shift its approach to sustainability by adopting eco-friendly practices, integrating renewable energy solutions, and fostering carbon literacy among professionals.
So, let’s dive into our key takeaways from this inspiring event:
1. Nightlife needs to adapt — big time ✊
Clubbing isn’t just about the 12-6 AM party window anymore. New generations are changing the game, embracing sober lifestyles and demanding fresh experiences beyond the typical night out. Think Sunday tea dances, sober raves, and alternative party formats. If venues want to stay relevant, they’ll need to step out of their comfort zone and open up to new styles of social gatherings.
2. Peer-to-peer learning is the future
Forget textbooks, some of the most powerful learning experiences happen informally, from one festival-goer to another, or from a seasoned industry pro to an up-and-coming entrepreneur. The value of community-driven knowledge-sharing is wildly untapped, but organisations like Waking Life, House of Yes, Patta Academy, and Vibelab are showing us how it’s done!
3. The rise of global sustainable nightlife alliances 🌍
The nightlife industry is no longer operating in silos. National and international associations are banding together, learning from one another, and strengthening their collective voice. This cross-border collaboration is making waves, creating a more professional, unified, and motivated global nightlife community. From NTIA Ambassadors like Natalie Mets (Estonia) to Joaquim Boadas (Mexico) and industry pioneers in Japan and Australia, the movement is steadily growing stronger.
4. Sober raving is here to stay
Not everyone wants to get loose on a night out. And guess what? That doesn’t mean they don’t want to rave. The industry needs to wake up to this shift and start catering to a crowd that prioritises connection over intoxication. Sobering up isn’t just a personal choice—it’s a way to future-proof the industry. Healthier habits mean a more sustainable, long-lasting party culture, and we’re here for it.
5. Nightlife is more than just a party...
At its core, nightlife has always been about human connection. Whether it’s through music, movement, or shared experiences, people will always crave a space to gather and express themselves. The challenge now? Creating nightlife spaces that are inclusive, innovative, and adaptable to the future.
As the industry shifts, we’ve got a choice: resist the change or embrace it. At Bye Bye Plastic, we’re all about leading the charge for a nightlife culture that’s sustainable, inclusive, and forward-thinking. The #PlasticFreeParty is just the beginning...
What do you think? Are you ready for a new era of nightlife? 💃
