Plastic Footprint Calculator
How can you start a diet without knowing how much weight you need to lose? Now, likewise, how can we track our progress and be proud of the road walked without a tool to monitor the steps we take?
Did you know that a 2,000 capacity club in Europe burns the equivalent CO2 as almost two trips around the earth in a car?
And that’s just in plastic cups, straws and water bottles! Until recently, the music industry has been lacking relevant, baseline data to better understand its own plastic consumption. Not knowing where to even start with setting goals drove us to quit whining, do some research and develop a solution.
The solution
We dreamed up a tool that would enable all event professionals and party-goers to calculate their footprint and be guided towards more sustainable solutions. We have teamed up with innovative tech startup Eeco.world, and together we’re working towards enabling event professionals to measure and track their footprint.

In 2020, we injected the energy that we normally would on the dance floor into strategies that would help us further our vision of a Plastic Footprint Calculator, and we unrolled Phase 1 of this groundbreaking project.
From researching the impacts of plastics, building strategic partnerships, surveying our community and events professionals, and mapping out the needs and design solutions that we will embed into the final tool, we were a busy bunch of green warriors. The lay of the land was built and we gathered valuable insights that will allow us to shape the next steps.
Phase 2 of the project will be substantial and lean heavily on technological developments. We will be working on building our user journeys, designs, calculations and tracking solutions into the envisioned final tool.
