Where do your donations go?
As a foundation, we have an action plan a mile long in order to create a positive plastic-free impact on the planet.
Short term goals and long term dreams. Where is the money going?
First and foremost it supports our community programs, which starts with the creation of music industry tools like the Eco-Rider. Donations also help fund our musically-powered clean-ups program
called Clean The Beat (yes, there’s some hard-working souls behind this adventure!) as well as the research and development of plastic alternatives, and the development of campaign strategies and implementation guidelines.
Transparency is our modus operandi when it comes to business and sustainability. We whipped up a good ol’ pie chart to help you better visualize exactly how we unravel our efforts. Our yearly Financial Statements will also be ready before the start of the year.

We initiated the movement with the most influential people of all: the artists & DJs. Right from the get-go, around 1,500 of them joined our community by way of adopting an Eco-Rider.
From Annie Mac to Sven Väth, Patrick Topping to Tale Of Us, many of the biggest names in the industry are now insisting on their DJ booth and backstage to be free of single-use plastics. Today, we are taking this to the next level and empowering clubs, festivals and promoters to make permanent, plastic-free choices — for today, and for tomorrow.
COVID-19 was a gamechanger for the music industry, and equally so for the global plastics pandemic. If there is a silver lining to the pandemic, it’s that it has awarded the music industry a clean slate and a chance to do things differently this time around.
As venues around the world start to reopen and festivals roll out line-ups in this new world we wondered: can the music industry flip its own script and shift from garbage generator to a sustainable innovator?
As stewards of the planet and gatekeepers of plastic-free parties, for years the Bye Bye Plastic Foundation has been working tirelessly to help the events sector shed its bad plastic habits and restore balance to Planet A along the way. Now, we invite you to be a part of the radical change that is unfolding.
Recognizing that plastics influence many dimensions of our environments, from the air we breathe to the oceans we swim in and even the dance floors we groove on, we’re banding together to use this fresh start as a chance to improve our practices as an industry and build a circular operating system. Who knows, maybe the next festival pavilion will be built from waste and mushrooms…
From ridding dance floors and DJ booths of plastics to developing tools that inspire #PlasticFreeParties and track our progress, together we can, and will evolve from garbage generators to sustainable innovators!
